  1. I just listened to your second interview with Bill Carter and I’ve got to tell you how really outstanding that was to hear them give more stories and more information and more of everything dealing with not just his book but also personal insights and how it was written and his interactions with all those he interviewed.
I am fortunate because I work seven hours in my jeep delivering mail and I get to listen to all these without interruption. I am now listening to your past interviews starting 2018 and back. One thing I got to thinking about dealing with Johnny Carson is why he was so universally loved is he came out of the Midwest, went to New York to start his career and was trained by its culture and then moved to LA and became a huge hit with the LA West Coast crowd. He really was the king of late night.
In your first interview you went in depth into talking about all the late night hosts that popped up over the years, but one I was wondering that I got to thinking about that was a total opposite of Leno/letterman and even Johnny Carson was Ted Koppel and ABC Nightline. Did Bill Carter get any sense that they also had worried about the ratings to that show? It sounds like Johnny Carson would’ve loved to have done that kind of show also.

by the way my wife and I started to watch Chevy Chase and it lasted until he had the guy on the stage using a machete to ‘cut his arm off’ with blood dripping off his arm. We couldn’t turn the show off fast enough. That’s not the kind of humor we want to be watching or we will watch.

Keep up the great work and I hope you’re able to someday maybe get to interview Terry Garr if she’s healthy enough to do so.
