Another good interview, Mark! Marilyn Michaels was also memorably interviewed a couple of years or so ago on Gilbert Gottfried’s podcast, where they leave in the profanity (why in the name of fuck do you delete it, Mark??? Doing that feels infantile and damages your podcast and everything else). She also did an impression of Judy Garland singing on Gottfried’s podcast that was so inspired that it launched a Marilyn Micheals Period for me of looking up her work on youtube. Her Garland is more effective with just the sound, though, since an accompanying image that isn’t Garland is distracting because the vocal is so perfect. Another fine podcast, Mark! I’ve been listening to most of these for years: fine preservation of show business history. By the way, I first heard about it on Gottfried’s podcast, come to think of it.

By the way, the truly great talk show host was someone you know: Dick Cavett. He was operating on a frequency of witticism that way outmanned Carson. If you were a young adult back in the ’70s and you opted to watch Carson instead of Cavett, there was something wrong with you.
